This document presents a comparative study on direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithms, specifically focusing on multiple signal classification (MUSIC), root-MUSIC, and estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance technique (ESPRIT). The study evaluates these algorithms regarding their optimality in tracking moving sources using a Kalman filter for tracking based on initial DOA estimates. It aims to highlight the significance of these algorithms in applications such as radar, sonar, and wireless sensor networks.
