The document presents a study on a gateway-based multi-hop distributed energy efficient clustering protocol (g-deec) for heterogeneous wireless sensor networks to enhance energy management and network lifetime. The g-deec protocol uses rechargeable gateway nodes to optimize data transmission and cluster head (CH) selection based on energy levels, demonstrating improved performance compared to traditional methods, especially in terms of the number of alive and half-dead nodes. Simulation results indicate significant improvements in network stability and lifetime, making g-deec a more reliable option for managing energy consumption in sensor networks.
