I would highly recommend Suricata and Laika BOSS over Snort. Suricata has much better performance and Laika BOSS is developed and maintained by Lockheed Martin so it's Enterprise tested. Most companies have moved on from Snort to Suricata. Even Ubiquiti UniFi gateway devices run a version of Suricata.
