When I left active duty, I continued to serve in the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR). Think of that a level below the Active Reserve, but ahead of the general population. In times of crisis, the IRR could be activated to serve. This population is already trained and could quickly be made into an effective fighting force. Why doesn't that exist for manufacturing? Well it used to. During the Cold War, the concept of an "industrial ready reserve" was a crucial component of the United States' strategy of industrial preparedness and deterrence. We need to get back into that mindset. This is something that I am extremely passionate about. We have incredible manufacturers here in the United States, let's get them involved in the Defense Industrial Base while we still have time. Sustainment is helping to lead this charge. Event streams...do you prematerialize things? Rules engines? Put that in the event bus? I sat in on the product & engineering team discussing Sustainment's new feature builds. I'm tech-savvy, but honestly couldn't keep up with some of the topics and breakdowns of how they will be building out our AI functionality.
