KPFF is thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of Community Development Partners newest affordable housing building in downtown Portland. As the structural engineer on this project, we’re especially proud that it now stands as the tallest mass timber building on the US West Coast — a milestone for low-embodied carbon design and urban resilience. This development brings much-needed, equitable housing to Downtown Portland. We're grateful to have partnered with Holst, CDP, and team partners on a project that supports our community and promotes sustainable building design.
We were thrilled to celebrate the grand opening of Julia West House yesterday! This 12-story permanent supportive housing development serves houseless elders and BIPOC individuals, setting a new standard for affordable housing that prioritizes resident well-being, trauma-informed design, and sustainability. With 90 fully furnished apartments, natural light, biophilic design, and resident services focused on housing stability, aging in place, and community building, Julia West House offers a restorative home for some of Portland’s most vulnerable residents.
