I never expected my humanities degree to lead me into digital marketing, yet here we are. Hi LinkedIn 👋 I’m Jamie Faulkner, Managing Director of SEO at Brainlabs, taking over our company page today! I originally studied humanities, but the pull toward scientific thinking never really left. Although the arts won at the time, the appeal of hypotheses, experimentation, and problem-solving stayed with me, and years later, that is exactly what drew me to SEO. When I first arrived at Brainlabs, I was looking for a different perspective after working at the same agency for the previous 7 years, and I found exactly that: a different culture and mindset, especially the spirit of regular feedback, which has genuinely changed me for the better as a leader. Over the past 4 years I have had the chance to lead pitches and projects that stretched my thinking, from global, multi-brand scopes to our evolving GEO and AI search proposition in recent times - and watching these complex pieces come together has been an ongoing reminder of how powerful a unified team can be. And, I’ve been fortunate to preside over a period of amazing growth in our SEO team, which has meant onboarding lots of new faces. I'm grateful for the challenges that pushed us to innovate and the moments that reminded me why I love what I do. It’s having such a positive team around me—people who, besides being exceptional SEOs, are simply exceptional people. Before I go, a few things about me outside of work: 👶 Family: I became a father to a little girl last year. Though balancing new parenthood and this intense environment is challenging, watching her grow has been incredible. I’m very grateful for my colleagues and Brainlabs for their support. Her blossoming relationship with our dog Mac is also pretty great! 🎸🍕 Passions: It’s hard to choose between guitar and cooking, so I’ll pick both. I’ve been playing since I was about 10. Now that I’m a dad, playing takes me to a different, creative headspace. It’s the same with cooking, where I’m my happiest making anything that takes care and time, such as good pizza! 🍰 Festive treat I can’t resist: I’m a sucker for a mince pie, preferably home-made with some boozy mincemeat. Last week, we took over Curzon Camden for the Brainlabs x ASHI Inspiration Day. Swapping the boardroom for a cinema to match the creative energy this partnership deserves. Our paid social, influencer, and strategy teams brought the ASHI team (Anglian Home Improvements, Safestyle UK and Everest Home Improvements) together for a day of bold thinking. We explored Connected TV strategies, dove deep into influencer marketing, the future of search, all tied specifically to the strategic opportunities for the brands. The highlight? A Rotten Tomatoes-style showdown where the ASHI team rated influencer content in real-time – fresh or splat? It turned brand alignment into something you could actually feel in the room.
