The e-ID works like a digital ID card

The e-ID is an official means of identification issued by the state. It is a free and optional complementary offer to the physical identity card. To protect individuals’ privacy both online and in the physical world as effectively as possible, the e-ID is designed to meet the highest standards of security, data protection, and trustworthiness.

The state operates the necessary Trust Infrastructure, supporting other authorities and organisations to issue electronic credentials. This enables simpler and more secure processes, reducing the administrative burden for users, public authorities, and businesses.
