I’m trying to use HandBrake’s “Batch Scan” feature to add multiple video folders at once, but it consistently returns “No valid source or titles found.” I’ve verified:

  • Files are in supported formats (MP4, MKV, etc.).
  • No DRM or copy protection on the files.
  • Read permissions are granted for all folders/files.
  • “Minimum Title Duration” in Preferences is set to a reasonable value (e.g., 10 seconds).

What else could be causing this, and how can I troubleshoot?

To resolve the “No valid source or titles found” error during HandBrake’s batch scan, go to:

Tools > Preferences > Advanced:

Ensure the checkbox “Recursively scan directories when using the folder scan mode” is checked.

If unchecked, HandBrake will only scan the top-level folder and ignore subdirectories. This is likely the culprit if your videos are stored in nested folders.
