I have a domain that is configured to use the DNS servers of Cloudflare.

Here are the DNS settings:

I want to change the host from easyhost.com(hostway.com) to another one.

Question: Will this affect the existing email account? Can I change just the server IP of the new host in Cloudflare and not touch the MX records?

It uses Google Workplace too for email.

Do you I need to set something on the Google Workplace / Cloudflare part or can I leave it as is and change only the IPs of the host in Cloudflare?

Sorry but I have not so much experience with Google Workplace and Cloudflare.

As @tsc_chazz has already said, changing the website records won't impact your MX records for email.

However, one caveat I'd mention is to check the email settings on cPanel (or where ever else you'll be moving to) to ensure the new hosting doesn't think it handles email.

On cPanel for instance, by default it will treat itself as being authoritative for email, eg the Email Routing will be set to Local Mail Exchanger, which means it will attempt to deliver any email to that domain locally, and if there's no corresponding local mailbox it will fail to deliver. When using external email you need to update it to Remote Mail Exchanger, which then means IF there is a matching local mailbox it will deliver there, but if not then it will check the MX records and deliver the email to the appropriate mail servers, eg the Google mail servers. Other web hosting systems have their own equivalent setting, but cPanel's the one I'm most familiar with (and have seen many people get caught out by).

  • Thanks very much, it worked. 👍 it worked without a problem : the MX records I left the same, I only changed the IPs from the other recordes. An I also set the Remote Mail Exchanger. Thanks again. Commented Jul 23 at 8:24

Since your mail does not go through Easyhost / Hostway, you will not lose email or email settings. All of those are handled by Google Workplace, and will not change when you change web server, so long as you leave the MX records alone. You will have to check with the new host to confirm where your cpanel records should be pointed, if you are going to continue using cpanel as your control panel, but that also will not affect your email.
