Is it possible to enable SMB compression feature for IPC$ share? I'm developing a SMB proxy that will handle SMB traffic for IPC$ share, so I want to know if I should support compression feature. It seems like it is not possible, but can't find any proof in MS docs

So, according to Microsoft, there is a way to use compression by default via Group Policy. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/file-server/smb-compression?tabs=powershell%2Crobocopy%2Cgroup-policy
Another option to reduce traffic and overhead is to use SMB over QUIC, which can still be compressed. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/storage/file-server/smb-over-quic?tabs=windows-admin-center%2Cpowershell2%2Cwindows-admin-center1
SMB over QUIC not only reduces the TCP and TLS handshakes to just three datagrams, but I believe it is ~30 percent more efficient according to Google. I read that weeks ago, so don't quote me on that. Check this test out, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/shows/it-ops-talk/smb-over-quic.
