As a contributor I want to know conventions to follow for service discovery

It's done when I can read documentation on the architecture and design of our service discovery mechanism, this includes terminology, best practices, existing supporting libraries and code etc.
Anything I need to implement my own service discovery mechanism for my own operator and enough to understand how I can consume the information as a client.
