So this ended up working pretty well. It's the version currently used to power the Packt Book Bot.

To do:

  • Move code for abstract base class to its own Maven artifact and publish it separately.
  • Make this code depend on the new artifact.
  • Document in README that OW users are to add a dependency on the abstract base class artifact and extend it to make their function
