This is the **PolarFire SoC** 2025.10 Linux4Microchip Yocto Project B… …SP release. The main changes in this release include the addition of a new `meta-mchp-distro` layer that defines top-level policy configurations for the Microchip Linux distribution. As part of this change, the BSP layers were restructured, with general distro-wide configuration content moved to the Distro layer, leaving the BSP layers focused solely on hardware platform metadata. The Distro layer is enabled by default in the provided sample configuration templates. In addition, the PIC64 layer was added to meta-mchp to provide support for the PIC64GX Curiosity Kit platform. Changes since last release (2025.07) : * Update U-Boot from version 2023.07 to 2025.07 * Bump Linux to linux4microchip+fpga-2025.10 (using Linux Kernel version 6.12.48) * Add meta-mchp-pic64 layer with PIC64GX Curiosity Kit support * Add meta-mchp-distro layer and reorganize BSP layers for improved structure and maintainability
Release candidate 1 for linux4microchip 2025.10
This is the first **PolarFire SoC** Linux4Microchip Yocto Project BSP… … release! The main changes in this release include the migration from the PolarFire SoC Yocto BSP to this repository, an update to Yocto Project "Scarthgap" 5.0.9, and a switch to Linux kernel version 6.12. Changes since last release : * Bump Linux to linux4microchip+fpga-2025.07 (using Linux Kernel version 6.12.22) * Add support for Icicle Kit with production silicon ([MPFS-ICICLE-KIT](https://www.microchip.com/en-us/development-tool/MPFS-ICICLE-KIT)) * Add U-Boot support for Icicle Kit variant detection – this enables booting the same images on both engineering sample (MPFS250T_ES) and production (MPFS250T) versions of the Icicle Kit * Include gateware Linux example in Icicle Kit with production silicon * Add frequency scaling support for mpfs-icicle-kit machine. The [cpupower](https://linux.die.net/man/1/cpupower) utility is included to adjust of the CPU frequency based on predefined operating points. * Add PolarFire SoC watchdog support. The [watchdog](https://linux.die.net/man/8/watchdog) utility is included to write to /dev/watchdog frequently enough to prevent the kernel from resetting when the watchdog is enabled. * Add support for Mi-V IHC IP v2 (available in the Libero catalog) * Add Microchip CoreUART Linux support (This exposes /dev/ttyCOREUART5 when the driver is enabled in the kernel) The Mi-V IHC IP version 2 is not backwards compatible with the Mi-V IHC subsystem used in the Icicle Kit reference design 2025.03 or earlier. For this reason the AMP support in the v2025.07 release will not be backwards compatible with previous releases.
