For #InternationalVolunteerDay, Veolia pays tribute to Veoliaforce volunteers from the Fondation Veolia. 🤝 This day celebrates those who transform their know-how and their technical expertise in water treatment, sanitation, waste management or energy into concrete humanitarian action. Few weeks ago, in the #US, 25 employees from Veolia North America, Veolia Canada and Veolia | Water Tech gathered for humanitarian intervention training. They learned how to deploy #Aquaforces, mobile water treatment units designed by the Veolia Foundation for humanitarian aid. 📣 During the visit of the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron to #China, Veolia has signed a #partnership agreement with Science City Guangzhou Investment Group Co. It will allow to co-develop a unique, innovative #decarbonization project for the capture and utilization of industrial flue gas of one of the major industrial hubs in China - the #Guangzhou Development Zone. Upon completion, the project is expected to reduce 200,000 tons of carbon per year while generating new energy for local enterprises. ⚡ How can a city of 500,000 residents reduce its CO₂ emissions while securing its energy supply? In #Poznań, Poland's fifth largest city, Veolia is supporting a major project to extend the district heating network, reduce coal use, and integrate local low-carbon energy sources. A new natural gas #cogeneration plant replaces old coal-fired units and delivers 214 MWt of heat and 114 MWe of electricity, covering more than half of the city's heat needs. With a gross efficiency of 92% and a 35% reduction in CO₂ emissions per megawatt produced, this achievement is part of an overall strategy that has already reduced coal consumption by 60% since 1990. This infrastructure prepares for the future by being compatible with renewable energies such as hydrogen and biomethane, thus charting the path toward the climate neutrality targeted by Poznań in 2050. 🔗 Learn more about urban energy: https://lnkd.in/eR8jf34v

📣 Veolia launches low-carbon heat network 'Ecothermal Grid' offer in the #UK with £1bn project #pipeline, in line with the company's ambitions to grow its district heating presence further in the UK, using a mix of different sources of energy to deliver carbon-neutral heating and cooling. This pipeline includes £210m of 2025 project wins already awarded in the UK. 📣 Veolia unveils a major project to phase out coal in #Poland to support European decarbonization and strengthen energy resilience in #Poznań: a multi-energy cogeneration plant that supplies heat to 60% of Poznań's 560,000 residents. This flagship district heating project is a perfect example of effective #decarbonization in district heating systems, reducing CO₂ emissions by 25%. Modern gas-fired #cogeneration allows heat and electricity to be produced simultaneously, increasing efficiency and significantly reducing emissions. The new plant ensures stable deliveries and greater flexibility compared to coal-fired units.
