In our local market many fish fillet look-alikes (made from pieces of primarily cod and saith) have been launched the recent years. With a new media campaign our 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝗯𝗲𝗸 brand is fighting for the popular fish fillet prepared in the traditional way: breading one single fillet and frying it. With a background as a chef and a deep passion for food, he brings a unique perspective to his role as Sales Manager at Espersen. For Kim, quality is more than a benchmark – it is a promise. In 1937, Jens Peter Arnold (J.P.A.) Espersen and his wife Dagny sets out to build the first cod factory on the Danish island of Bornholm.  But what they truly built was something greater: a 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 based on respect, fairness, and care. 𝟯 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗘𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝟭𝟲𝟮.𝟴𝟱𝟬 𝗸𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 Reflecting on World Environment Day 2025 – #BeatPlasticPollution Espersen is committed to minimising our usage of Plastic – and at the same time not compromising our food safety and securing a minimum of food waste. It is a paradox that we face in our packaging world and a top mindset has been: 𝗥𝗘𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗘 – 𝗥𝗘𝗨𝗦𝗘 – 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗬𝗖𝗟𝗘 Through collaboration across departments, our packaging team has implemented three initiatives that reduce our plastic usage by 𝟭𝟲𝟮.𝟴𝟱𝟬 𝗸𝗴 𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿. ♻ We have replaced the 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗙𝗼𝗶𝗹 used to ensure that our products stand secure and firm on the pallet during transport. The new foil is both thinner, stronger and recyclable. ♻ We have started using a new 𝗦𝗵𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗺 made with 30% post-consumer plastic to wrap our retail boxes. This means that 30% of the plastic has been used before. Like the Pallet stretch foil – the new Shrink film is also recyclable. 💪 In 2023, 95% of our 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝘅𝗲𝘀 were laminated with plastic on the inside. This changed in 2024 when we introduced a thin water-based coating with the same capabilities as Plastic. As of 2025 we are proud to announce that all our retail boxes are Plastic-free. The journey does not end with these 162,850 kg of plastic that we no longer use.
