Request Tracker includes a built-in asset tracking system that can be used to manage any type of inventory, from IT assets like laptops and printers, to cloud servers, to medical devices, to car parts.
Organize Your Assets in Catalogs
Catalogs are groups of assets of a similar type. Each catalog can have a custom lifecycle defining the full life of each asset, from newly arrived to sold or recycled.
Each catalog can also have its own set of custom fields to capture all of the important details about the asset. All of RT’s custom field types are supported, so you can have dropdowns, open input fields, multi-select options, and many more.
If your assets are assigned to people, you can track who has what with the default roles on each asset. Roles are flexible, so you can associate assets with groups, which can represent a department in your organization or an external customer.
Create linked tickets directly from the Actions menu on the asset. These tickets can track activity on the asset, like repairs, maintenance, or any other activity associated with the asset. When you view the ticket, a new asset portlet is shown for any linked assets.
Linked tickets capture the full history of work on the laptop, printer, server, or other asset being tracked.
Link multiple assets to each other to track relationships between them, like an AWS EC2 instance and its associated reservation.

Asset Searching, Reporting, and Dashboards
Assets have a full search interface, allowing you to find assets using any custom fields or other metadata tracked on the asset. You can filter and sort directly from the search results page.
Create saved searches based on status, maintenance level, expiration dates, or any other tracked information.
Charts help you visualize your asset information.
Dashboards display your selected saved searches and charts to make it easy to view the latest asset information with a click.
Many people start off tracking assets in a spreadsheet like MS Excel, Google sheets, or LibreOffice. Our free asset importer can ingest all of your existing data so you can get started quickly without any extra time adding data by hand.
To run the import, you map your existing columns to the corresponding fields in your selected catalog. You can identify any unique fields, like serial numbers, and RT will make sure you don’t have any duplicates.
The importer also supports an update mode where you can update existing assets with new data. This is helpful if you are syncing data from another system and need to periodically re-run your import.
