Asked by Skip Wright

The European Union Accessibility Act went into effect at the end of June 2025. I do not see fields for Accessibility Metadata.

Hi, thank you for noticing. We are aware and we are now discussing it internally.

Hi, thanks for reporting this!
Just to clarify — are you referring to the lack of proper ARIA attributes on the launchpad.net web app, or is it something else?
Is this issue currently affecting you or your project?

Hello Enzo,

I am referring to Calibre's metadata selection fields. There are no
fields for the Accessibility Metadata.

If you need me to list what I think the fields should be, I will gladly
do that.

Enzo,

One question I did not answer. As of June 28, 2025, if books are to be
sold in Europe they must satisfy the European Union Accessibility Act
requirements. Fines will be accessed if these requirements are not met.

So yes, this issue is currently affecting our projects.

Hi there

Calibre isn't software that we maintain; you've asked a question against Launchpad. We simply support the underlying platform that can be used by software publishers for whatever open source software they support.

If your concern relates to Calibre in Ubuntu and how it handles these requirements, it may be better to get information from https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/calibre

If you agree, I can also re-assign this question there so that it can get the proper attention.
