Narrowing support to PHP LTS versions ensures continued focus on performance, security, and stability of this project. Jordi Boggiano's Composer stats also make the case for leaving PHP 5.5 and lower in the dust (see https://seld.be/notes/php-versions-stats-2017-1-edition).
