liner notes:
- Saturday : My co-host for the radio show made it to the station this week and brought some bananas from his new house. haha I also learned that day that a basketball game would preempt our show. We still do the shows online anyway, but it's that time again where the basketball season means we aren't on air for like 3 months. haha Had a great time as usual doing the show. The recording of this week's show is at https://kNOwBETTERHIPHOP.com
Sunday : Pretty productive day over at https://untilit.works In addition to the normal stuff like laundry, I made some modifications to my 3D models and printed out some prototypes. I also got loading, adding and editing items in my dashboard project working. Now when I create and/or edit an item, any images and/or videos that I attached to the item will be ran through an AI to generate alt text and upload the files to Firebase storage, get URLs to the files and then added all the info to Firestore. Felt pretty great when I got everything working.
Professional : Had a pretty great and productive day. My manager is out this week so we didn't have a meeting. I responded to a couple of questions and spent the rest of the day working on a project that involves Github Codespaces. It's funny, I used AI to help me put together some stuff involving GitHub Actions since I don't have a lot of experience with it. I learned a lot. I also wanted to see how it would do with the devcontainer.json that is needed to spin up a Github Codespace. I've created devcontainer.json files before for other projects. The initial version AI created took like more than 5 minutes to load. haha I had to kind of steer it in the right direction by recommending alternatives to what it initially used. After some back and forth, we were able to get the load time to like 2 minutes. There's a couple of other small things, but I think I'll be able to hand over a working demo so that the other team working on the overall project can kick the tires and test it out before I go on break for Thanksgiving. They are based in Europe so they will be working and I wanted to have something for them to test..
Personal : My focus this week is to get this dashboard and client order site up and running and send it to the possible first user. I've also been talking with some other folks for possible future projects. Hoping 2026 is a nice productive and active time for my new company. Been spending this year to really try and get the foundation going.
For tonight, I'm looking to get the loading of the items from the dashboard that I got working yesterday into the client's dashboard. From there, they will be able to create and pay for orders using Stripe (which is why I set up the webhook server last week). The order creation will then fire off an event that will create an entry in my database and then I'll show it in the Orders section of my database as well as the client's. Luckily, I've created a shopping site earlier this year with Stripe and I think a lot of it will be very similar. For the ordering, not only doing I want to to show the orders, I want to have a timeline of updates as the products are being created and shipped along with tracking. I have an idea for what I want to use, but I've never really used their API for tracking, just to verify and calculate shipping. I won't have to worry about charging based on the clients location, because I'm going to have that in the price of the item they order. Yeah, that should be it. I may go through tracks for the radio show, but I'm about to eat and then get to work.
Have a great night!
peace piece
