Hi everyone! I'm a Java software developer by day, and a self-hosting enthusiast in my free time.
I've been documenting what I'm learning as I go, in case it helps someone else. Still figuring a lot of things out myself, so always happy to learn from others too!
Hi Marin! Do you build things that you self-host, or build self-hosting solutions? Neat focus either way!
Hey Mei! I focus on building things that I self-host, right now that includes a media server, some Ghost blogs, and an analytics dashboard, running on my home server. Iām still pretty new to it, but Iām having a lot of fun and working on a bunch of small projects.
Welcome
Hi Marin, I will definitely be checking out your posts.
Hey, I'm a founder of langswap.app. ML background, Voice Tech in particular. Now slowly transitioning into founder/tech lead role. Fan of everything related to machine learning and AI.
Finished my round the world trip this year. Been to 40 countries.
Ask me about how to build stuff fast and how to build your own services.
oops, apparently I already have an account!
Way to up your own reply count! š
40 countries is a lot! How long did you spend on your trip? I used to travel full-time myself, it's not lofty!
Hi everyone! My name is Jonathan Darko Ntim. I'm a Sign Language Interpreter and tech enthusiast exploring Front-End Web Development to bridge communication gaps, especially in the Deaf community. Excited to learn, grow, and build meaningful solutions with you all!
Hey @jonathan_kweku_250 ! Happy you joined the crew š Iām the first to admit: frontend is not my usual habitat, but Iāll always pitch in if you need a hand!
Totally with you on accessibility ā it's usually the first thing to vanish when āmove fastā takes over ābuild right.ā Thatās even more obvious now with all these vibe-coded apps flying around. Honestly, it bugs me how little public data there is on truly accessible UI! It makes it so much harder for models (and humans) to learn what āgoodā actually looks like.
We need more folks willing to wave the flag š³ļøāš for accessibility ā keep making noise!

Hello š
Hello
Hey, hows going?
Hello Dev.to! š
I'm Mei, a 10-year SWE who became a stay-at-home mom and discovered that coding in 15-minute windows between toddler chaos is actually a superpower.
I'm building ToddlerDo (iOS app for instant toddler activity suggestions) and teaching my 2-year-old to code with Claude (he's surprisingly good at feature requests, bring a toddler probably helps with that).
I'm building in public and sharing the messy reality of parent developer life!
Fun fact: I tend to get carried away with tweaking so I constrained myself to building my entire personal site (meimakes.com) with Claude in one morning, pair-programming from the passenger seat while out running family errands.
What's the weirdest place you've ever shipped code from? š
Hey @meimakes ! I couldn't even begin to tell you all the weird places I've ended up coding. I went back to college when my son was almost 2, so I definitely feel you! It's not easy having a little one around when there's work to be done (and yes, I can 100% picture Claude running wild with your totās instructions to build whatever shiny new thing pops up that day š).
I do the same thing ā total perfectionist here. Iāll mess with spacing or wording for an hour, even when it barely matters. Claudeās a great solution! Timers help, too š
If weāre counting āsurprisingā over āweirdā: My first job had me bouncing between physical printers in three different office buildings. To make it easier, I started working after hours when the analysts had all left. I had all the codes, and security was expecting me ā so what could go wrong? Well, the second building had an extra alarm I knew nothing about. Cue me realizing Iād just tripped it with absolutely no way to turn it off. š«£
So, my most unexpected place to push code? Laptop on the hood of a (very nice) police officerās cruiser, ādetainedā just long enough for my boss to come down and vouch for me. š¤£
Hi everyone! I'm a serial entrepreneur working a lot in Elixir/Liveview. Currently working on RivalSee, a tool to help you monitor and boost your AI SEO/GEO.
Nice to meet everyone and hope to find more Elixir people here!
Hi Charlie,
I saw some posts on LinkedIn and watched videos on YouTube where it was said that SEO is dead because of AI. Is this true?
Hello!,
I recently heard about this community, and decided to join.
I've been working in the field of computer vision for almost two decades and lately I've been fascinated by the incredible capabilities of what it can achieve today.
My focus is on real time applications, sensors, robotics, augmented reality, and R&D in general.
Lately, I've been publishing native apps that do cool things such as transcribing your videos, finding your photos offline, removing the background of an image, and more.
Hello everyone!
