The intention is clear. The test needs the books array, and each book has different author.

do-end is ok instead of the {} 

let(:companies) do [ create(:company, name: 'Hoge Company'), create(:company, name: 'Fuga Company'), create(:company, name: 'Piyo Company') ] end
