Three Generations of Tea Legacy: A Century-Old Journey from Traditional Tea Gardens to Modern Enterprise

"茶者,南方之嘉木也。" - 唐代茶圣陆羽在《茶经》中的开篇之语,道出了茶树作为南方珍贵植物的本质。这段始于公元780年的茶文化传承,在我家族延续了整整三代人。
"Tea is the precious tree of the south." - The opening words of Lu Yu's "The Classic of Tea" in 780 AD perfectly capture the essence of tea trees as valuable plants in southern China. This tea culture legacy has been passed down through three generations in my family.
第一代:茶农世家的奠基者
The First Generation: Founders of a Tea Farming Family
1851年至1922年间,正值我爷爷方永功那一代茶农在聂市乡村种植、制作、销售茶叶的鼎盛时期。爷爷出身茶农世家,身材高大,自幼习武,却因奶奶用铜罐精心熬煮的功夫茶而与茶结下不解之缘。
From 1851 to 1922, my grandfather Fang Yonggong's generation experienced the golden age of tea cultivation, production, and sales in the rural areas of Nieshi. Coming from a long line of tea farmers, my grandfather was tall and had practiced martial arts since childhood, but it was my grandmother's meticulously brewed kung fu tea in a copper pot that forged his unbreakable bond with tea.
爷爷的茶园以出产优质茶叶闻名,特别是"红茶"和"贡砖"茶。他常年在聂市古镇与茶商交往,精通茶道。临终前,他将一只煮了五十年老茶的铜罐传给了我父亲,罐上刻着"南方有嘉木"五个字。
My grandfather's tea garden was renowned for producing high-quality teas, especially "black tea" and "tribute brick" tea. He frequently interacted with tea merchants in the ancient town of Nieshi and became an expert in tea ceremony. Before passing away, he bequeathed to my father a copper pot that had brewed aged tea for fifty years, inscribed with the words "The precious tree of the south."
第二代:茶艺大师的辉煌
The Second Generation: The Glory of a Tea Master
我父亲方传山继承了家族的茶业,将家产扩大为爷爷时期的两倍。他精通种茶、制茶、品茶、鉴茶等各种技艺,尤其擅长利用铜罐煮茶来调整制茶工艺。
My father Fang Chuanshan inherited the family tea business and expanded the family assets to twice what they were in my grandfather's time. He mastered various skills including tea cultivation, production, tasting, and appraisal, and was particularly adept at using the copper pot to adjust tea-making techniques.
父亲见证了聂市茶业的黄金时代:百家茶庄、七个码头、晋商三百,也经历了1938年日军火烧聂市老街的黑暗时刻。最令人惊叹的是,一位老茶工冒死从火中抢救出一方压制永巨青砖的石抖木模板,为"永巨"品牌日后的重生留下了希望。
My father witnessed the golden age of Nieshi's tea industry: hundreds of tea shops, seven docks, and three hundred Shanxi merchants, as well as the dark moment in 1938 when Japanese troops set fire to the old streets of Nieshi. Most astonishingly, an old tea worker risked his life to rescue a wooden mold for pressing Yongju brick tea from the flames, preserving hope for the future rebirth of the "Yongju" brand.
第三代:茶业振兴的开拓者
The Third Generation: Pioneers of Tea Industry Revitalization
上世纪六七十年代,作为返乡知青的我带领"铁姑娘茶叶队"开垦荒山,建造梯田茶园,使全村茶园面积从600多亩扩展到1000多亩。虽然后来因工作调动离开了茶乡,但父亲讲述的茶故事和那方刻有"永巨"二字的茶模始终萦绕在我梦中。
In the 1960s and 1970s, as an educated youth returning to the countryside, I led the "Iron Girls Tea Team" to reclaim barren mountains and build terraced tea gardens, expanding the village's tea garden area from over 600 mu to more than 1,000 mu. Although I later left the tea village due to work transfer, the tea stories my father told and that tea mold engraved with the words "Yongju" always lingered in my dreams.
改革开放后,随着永巨茶厂的成立和现代化改造,这个百年品牌焕发新生:自动化生产、有机茶园、国际认证。2020年,永巨青砖黑茶在迪拜世博会上荣获金奖,2021年洞庭青砖茶制作技艺被列为湖南省非物质文化遗产。
After the reform and opening up, with the establishment and modernization of Yongju Tea Factory, this century-old brand was revitalized: automated production, organic tea gardens, international certifications. In 2020, Yongju brick dark tea won the gold medal at the Dubai Expo, and in 2021, the production technique of Dongting brick tea was listed as an intangible cultural heritage of Hunan Province.
如今,占地30多公顷的现代化永巨茶业生产基地拔地而起,年产量突破数万吨。便携式青砖茶系列产品的开发,更让传统茶文化适应了现代人的生活方式。
Today, a modern Yongju Tea production base covering more than 30 hectares has sprung up, with an annual output exceeding tens of thousands of tons. The development of portable brick tea series products has further adapted traditional tea culture to modern lifestyles.
正如中国工程院院士刘仲华教授所题:"中国茶和天下,永巨茶香天下"。这既是对永巨茶业的肯定,也是对我们家族三代茶缘的最好诠释。
As Professor Liu Zhonghua, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, inscribed: "Chinese tea harmonizes the world, Yongju tea fragrances the world". This is not only an affirmation of Yongju Tea, but also the best interpretation of our family's three-generation tea legacy.
