You set a goal, buzzing with excitement. The next day, you wake up ready to achieve it. But reality hits hard. Did I aim too high? Is my goal too daunting? I've been there too… However, I nailed my goal of networking daily on LinkedIn by giving 100%. And believe me, I kept at it every day for a whole year. Here’s what I learned: I was falling short of my goals because I wasn't turning them into daily tasks. Dreamed of growing my network → Skipped daily outreach. Aimed to boost my personal brand → Didn't engage daily on relevant posts. Planned to become a thought leader → Didn't write daily insights. Sound familiar? Here are three steps to help you get closer to your LinkedIn goals: #1 Clarity is key. What exactly do you want to achieve on LinkedIn? Be precise. Instead of increasing connections, set a goal like "optimizing your profile in 7 days and reaching 100 profile views" (in a week). The more specific your goal, the easier it is to plan your actions. #2 Lay out your plan. You don’t want to wander aimlessly, right? Set clear milestones. 1st Month: Connect with 10 new people daily and observe trends. 2nd Month: Publish 15 posts that reflect your expertise and engage with 15 relevant people in your niche. 3rd Month: Get 50 endorsements on your 2 relevant skills and 5 solid recommendations. See the progress? #3 Commit to daily actions. If you were ill, would you skip your medicine? Treat your LinkedIn activities the same. Set a daily time, say 6 pm to 6:30 pm, to engage with posts and send connection requests. No excuses. Start today. ✌️ Hey, I’m Pradeep Aravind, your LinkedIn growth marketer, and personal branding coach. I build value for tech CEOs and entrepreneurs. Before every great game, there’s a pre-game. Athletes don’t walk straight onto the field and expect to win. They warm up, review the playbook, study their opponents, and get their head in the game. Are you pre-gaming before a job search? You should! Even at the executive level. Some people jump straight into application mode: firing off resumes and hoping for results without preparing the strategy, mindset, or tools that drive consistent wins. Skipping the pre-game is a missed opportunity. Your job search pre-game matters just as much as the game itself. It sets the tone, direction, and pace for how you’ll perform in a competitive market. 🏈 Your Playbook = Strategy Define your end goal. Which roles, sectors, or ownership models align best with your strengths and ambitions? Build clarity first so your efforts are targeted and efficient. 🏋️ Your Training = Tools Your resume, LinkedIn profile, and narrative are your equipment. They should reflect a leadership brand that’s current, relevant, and outcome-focused. Executives who refine these assets before “kickoff” gain a stronger competitive edge. 🧠 Your Mindset = Readiness Even experienced athletes prepare mentally for the pressure of performance. Executives benefit from the same discipline, approaching the search with confidence, persistence, and adaptability. Before jumping into a job search, take time to pre-game and plan. Review your tools. Revisit your goals. Rehearse your story. When you step into the market ready, opportunities respond differently, and you are not just chasing the win...you are leading the game. --------- ✅ If you’re ready to strengthen your career pre-game, I help executives refine the strategy and story that win opportunities. One of my clients told me, 'I applied to 50 jobs last week and still haven't received any responses.' There could be various reasons for this, such as a busy hiring team, internal position fillings, temporary position holds, or even project cancellations on the company's side. However, I wanted to analyze the candidate's approach. So, I asked him, 'How many of these jobs were relevant?' His reply was, 'I'm not sure. I just applied to jobs I felt I would be suitable for because I have vast experience.' Upon reviewing his resume, I realized that he had experience in different areas and a variety of certifications. His resume lacked a clear target and focus, and so did his job search approach. We revamped his resume, highlighted his key strengths, and established a clear career goal. His approach towards job searching needed an overhaul. We emphasized that applying to numerous jobs without a proper job search plan won't yield results; he needed a structured strategy. Together, we crafted a job search strategy that focused on quality over quantity. We identified target companies, tailored his applications, and invested time in networking. Soon, he began to receive responses and interview invitations, leading him closer to his ideal job.

🚀The best time to plan your 2025 success isn't January 1st. It's right now. After testing various approaches over the years, these 8 strategies help me achieve a lot more with the time I have but I do so by taking time over the holidays for deep reflection and think time. 1️⃣ Start with Reflection 🪞 Take stock of 2024's achievements. Every milestone, skill gained, and lesson learned builds your foundation for 2025. Document wins across work, health, relationships – they're fuel for future growth. Document things that you had hoped to achieve but could not. What got in the way? 2️⃣ Design Your 360° Vision for what 2025 should look like🌟 Map goals across key life dimensions: ➡️Career Growth ➡️Learning & Development ➡️Key Relationships ➡️Health & Fitness ➡️Skills & Learning ➡️Financial Freedom ➡️Mental Wellbeing ➡️Personal Joy 3️⃣ Make space for your "Stretch Zone" 🎯 Set goals that energize but don't overwhelm. Replace "become an industry expert" with "speak at two conferences and publish monthly insights." Ambitious yet achievable. 4️⃣ Build Success Rituals ⚙️ Convert goals into daily habits: ➡️Want to innovate? Block 30 minutes for creative thinking ➡️Aiming for growth? Schedule daily learning time ➡️Building relationships? Create weekly connection rituals 5️⃣ Execute Strategically 📝 Break down 2025 into: ➡️Yearly Vision ➡️Quarterly Milestones ➡️Monthly Targets ➡️Weekly Actions ➡️Daily Non-negotiables 6️⃣ Embrace Adaptation ➿ Markets shift. Priorities change. The goal isn't perfect execution – it's consistent progress. Stay flexible while keeping your vision clear. 7️⃣ Celebrate Milestones 🏆 Track and celebrate progress. Each small win builds momentum toward bigger achievements. Document successes, learn from setbacks. 8️⃣ Practice Self-Compassion ❤️ Growth isn't linear. Some goals will take longer, others might need adjustment. Focus on progress, not perfection. Bonus: Don't jump back into work on Jan 2nd. Ease into the year with careful time for planning on your first day or two back to work. 💭 What key lesson from 2024 is shaping your approach to 2025? Share below. #2024Reflection #2025Goals #PersonalGrowth #Success #CareerDevelopment

you want to break into cybersecurity but where do you begin? it’s not as complicated as it seems. here’s the roadmap i wish someone gave me earlier: 1. start with security+ it won't get u the job. but it'll get u in the door. network+ is helpful too, but not required. after that? only specialize if you know what path you’re chasing: • cysa+, sc-200 for soc roles • ejpt, oscp for red team • cisa, cissp for grc or auditing don’t collect certs like pokémon. only get the ones hr recognizes. 2. learn hands-on this is where the real growth happens. platforms like tryhackme and hackthebox let u: • build real-world skills • practice attack/defense scenarios • train your brain through repetition 3. build stuff just don’t stop at “completing rooms.” apply what you’re learning. build a lab. break things. fix them. repeat. some ideas: • siem lab (splunk/elastic/wazuh) for soc roles • vulnerable machine walkthroughs for pentesting you don’t need expensive gear virtualbox + curiosity = a solid start. 4. write it down what you did, what broke, what worked. • start a blog. • post to LinkedIn. • push scripts to GitHub. learning in public = compounding returns. ur goal isn’t to look smart. it’s to be understood by hiring managers. 5. network like it’s a job because it is. most people get hired because someone vouched for them. message with interns, engineers. not just recruiters don’t wait till you need a favor to start conversations. 6. apply smart stop hitting “apply” and praying. start being strategic. • apply to ~150 jobs/month • tailor ur resume to each job • cut fluff—highlight only what matters • write cover letters (real ones u write, not ai slop) cybersecurity isn’t just ones and zeros. it’s about taking initiative, building experience, and making connections.

🎓 Are you actually trying to learn or do you just want a certificate? 📜 It’s easy to go through the motions, watch a training video, complete a certification, or run through a checklist. But are you truly learning, or just getting it done? I used to go through tryhackme, Hack the box, and others just notching off the rooms. What I realized is that while a small portion of the material would stick, most of it was blown away with the next thought. It wasn't until i started really paying attention and taking detailed notes that i started learning everything i was ingesting. (And not copy and paste notes, actual notes that are in your words so that you know you understand the material). In cybersecurity (and any career), intentional practice beats passive training every time. Here’s how to make sure you’re training with purpose: 🔹 Set a Goal: Don’t just complete a course—define what you want to gain from it. Are you trying to understand incident response deeper? Improve your scripting skills? Be specific. 🔹 Take notes: Creating notes about material that you are covering is incredibly helpful and when you make the notes in your own words, you retain so much more then a simple copy and paste. 🔹 Teach It to Someone Else: If you can explain it clearly, you understand it. Mentoring, blogging, or even a quick LinkedIn post about what you learned helps cement your skills. 🔹 Challenge Yourself: If a task feels too easy, push deeper. Ask “Why?” and “How does this work?” rather than just memorizing. The best cybersecurity professionals are always curious. 🔹 Track Your Progress: Keep a journal or log of what you’ve learned and applied. Looking back will show you how far you’ve come and help guide your next steps. Purposeful training isn’t about just passing a test. It’s about becoming truly skilled and adaptable. In cybersecurity, that makes all the difference. #CyberSecurity #CareerGrowth #TrainingWithPurpose

Breaking into Cybersecurity? Here’s Why Less Can Be More. If you’re trying to launch a career in cybersecurity, you might feel tempted to grab every certification you can find. But here’s the truth: more certifications don’t equal better results. There is a problem with "Cert Mania." Certifications can be valuable, but collecting them randomly without a plan is like trying to build a house without blueprints. You’ll spend time, money, and effort with little to show for it. A Smarter Approach: Go Strategic. 1️⃣ Define Your Goal What cybersecurity role excites you the most? From SOC analyst to penetration tester, your focus determines your path. Everything starts with this clarity. 2️⃣ Build Role-Specific Skills Identify the core competencies for your desired role. Master these first. Hands-on skills always speak louder than a wall of certificates. 3️⃣ Think Depth, Not Width Instead of spreading your attention thin, go deep. Develop expertise in one area before branching out. Think "6-ft deep," not "6-inches wide." 4️⃣ Certify with Purpose Choose certifications that are directly tied to your target role. One or two strategic certifications paired with real-world experience can make all the difference. 5️⃣ Seek Hands-On Experience Dive into labs, participate in bug bounties, or volunteer for small cybersecurity projects. Real-world application trumps theoretical knowledge every time. Remember: Strategic Focus Wins Breaking into cybersecurity is about working smarter, not harder. Depth, relevance, and experience will always beat scattered efforts and a stack of certs. Stay focused. I'm rooting for you!
