If you want to do this the fancy way, the first thing you're going to need to do is go to wireshark.org and download Wireshark. Download it and install it. Just a default installation. Then go to vmware.com and download VMware Workstation Player. That's the free one. I prefer it over virtual box, because its networking capabilities are far more robust. Once you have VMware Workstation Player, just do a default installation of that. Then, go to sourceforge.net and get Metasploitable 2. There's a Metasploitable, a Metasploitable 2, and a Metasploitable 3. We want 2. Download that. Once you have Metasploitable, you're going to need to unzip it. So go to the Downloads, take that zip file and unzip it. Once you have it unzipped, then start VMware Workstation Player.
