We're announcing major advancements in Honeycomb Telemetry Pipeline that unlock a new era of observability—one without tradeoffs. 🔥 Over the past several years, conversations around observability have revolved around challenging tradeoffs: retention versus fidelity, availability versus speed—and always, the constant pressure of cost. With the rise of OpenTelemetry shifting telemetry ownership from vendors to engineering teams, it was no surprise to see telemetry pipelines quickly emerge as essential infrastructure. Yet—as standalone solutions—these pipelines reinforce divisions between the producers and consumes of telemetry data (but this time, more toxically, often within the same organization). Honeycomb is committed to a different approach: deeply integrating telemetry pipelines into the observability experience itself. ✨Enhance✨ is the first step toward this vision, eliminating the traditional tradeoffs in data management. Just tried the new Claude Agent SDK from Anthropic and it’s actually very good. Interesting part is its built-in session and memory management. The SDK explicitly supports automatic context-management and session handling so your agent doesn’t run out of context. The companion feature from Anthropic, the “memory tool” enables the model to read and write persistent files (in a /memories directory) between sessions, allowing it to maintain project context over time. Real session state, real memory, real continuity. Exciting times.

In a new blog post, Marc Bowes looks at how updates work in Aurora DSQL, and what it means for scalable schema design. Read it here: https://lnkd.in/gmGEK8Dv A couple take-aways for application builders: - You mostly don't have to worry about hot read keys in DSQL, even in read-write transactions. DSQL can scale out per-key read throughput, and the design requires no co-ordination between transactions reading the same key. (Thank you, MVCC and Time Sync!) - Scalable applications do need to avoid high-contention write keys when doing updates. Writes need to be coordinated and ordered (to implement the I in ACID), which limits per-key throughput. - Most applications can avoid hot write keys with the right schema design. Most applications have already been written this way, because high-contention keys perform poorly on relational databases of all kinds.
