Each year, the Daniel L. Gross Spirit of Caring Award honors Sharp caregivers who go above and beyond for our patients and their families. The award was created in 1987 and renamed in 2020 to honor Dan Gross — a registered nurse and former Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer who served Sharp for 40 years. It recognizes caregivers in patient-centered roles who show compassion, dedication and exceptional service. Recipients are selected by a committee through employee nominations from across the system. Because of a memorial endowment at Sharp HealthCare Foundation, each honoree receives a scholarship to support their ongoing professional growth. Please join us in congratulating this year’s outstanding award recipients for their extraordinary dedication and unwavering spirit of caring. #SpiritOfCaring

We extend our sincere gratitude to City of Chula Vista Mayor John McCann for his visit and official proclamation of Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center Day in celebration of the hospital's 50th anniversary. Mayor McCann toured the Sharp Chula Vista Emergency Department Transformation Project, a vital effort to expand waiting room areas, enhance patient access and comfort, and add a dedicated treatment area for patients experiencing a behavioral health emergency. It's one more way we're working to advance The Sharp Experience and deliver ever-greater levels of care to the South Bay community. Learn more at sharp.com/envision.
