opentelemetry-ext-js VS spring-petclinic

AWS has good tools for tracing, but in this example, I will use another remote and distributed tracing platform – Aspecto.

For this article, I will be using Aspecto to visualize my traces. You can follow along by quickly creating a free account.

If we drill down into one of these traces, we can see in more detail how long each request took and clear visualization of the entire workflow.

For the purposes of this guide, I chose to use Aspecto as my visualization tool. This is because Aspecto provides built-in support for visualizing messaging systems like Kafka (and, of course, any other part of our microservice architectures).

Consider the project spring-petclinic, which has 7.8 stars on GitHub. Spring Petclinic is a Spring Boot application built using Maven or Gradle. Currently, it lacks API documentation, so let's create one using LiveAPI.

Let's open a basic Spring PetClinic code and start by creating some stubs for our application. Go to Endpoints tool window, select desired request mappings and open the context menu.

In this article, I'm using a customization created based on the spring-petclinic projects and libraries. By creating the customization with your own unique coding style, libraries, and APIs, even different languages, Amazon Q will have more sample data to learn from and will be more equipped to match your intent to what it knows so it can provide better suggestions as you encounter various coding problems.
