Difference between Linux and HP-UX

1. Linux : Linux is a group of open source Unix-like operating systems which was developed by Linus Torvalds. It is a packaged of Linux distribution. Some of the mostly used Linux distribution are Debian, Fedora and Ubuntu. It was basically written in C language and assembly language. Kernel used in Linux is Monolithic kernel. The target systems of Linux distributions are cloud computing, embedded systems, mobile devices, personal computers, servers, mainframe computers and supercomputers. The first version of Linux was launched in 1991. 2. HP-UX : HP-UX is a closed source operating system which is provided by HP Enterprise. It is a Unix-like operating system whose design is based on Unix System V. It is basically designed for HP computers. Its target systems is server. It is one of the five commercial operating systems that have versions certified to UNIX 03 standard of The Open Group. The first version of HP-UX was launched in 1983. It has the Monolithic kernel with dynamically loadable modules.
