You can create a Lindorm instance in the Lindorm console. This topic describes how to create a Lindorm instance and the parameters that you must configure.
Prerequisites
An Alibaba Cloud account is required.
Precautions
If your application is deployed on an ECS instance, make sure that your Lindorm instance and the ECS instance meet the following requirements to ensure network connectivity. For more information about how to view ECS instance information, see View instance information.
The instances must be in the same region. We recommend that you deploy the instances in the same zone to reduce network latency.
The instances must use the same network type.
VPCs provide a higher level of security. We recommend that you use a VPC. If you select VPC as the network type, make sure that the instances use the same VPC ID.
Procedure
Log on to the Lindorm console.
On the Instances page, click Create.
NoteYou can also go to the product details page and click Buy Now to create a Lindorm instance.
In the Product Type area, you can select Lindorm, Lindorm New Edition Available For Purchase, Lindorm Tunnel Service, or Lindorm AIGC Trial Edition.
NoteFor more information about product types, see Product series.
In the Billing Method area, you can select Subscription or Pay-as-you-go.
NoteYou can change the billing method in the console after you purchase the instance.
Subscription: This billing method requires an upfront payment for a subscription instance and is more cost-effective than the pay-as-you-go billing method for long-term use. Longer subscription periods provide greater discounts.
Pay-as-you-go: This is a post-paid billing method where you are billed hourly based on the instance configuration. Fees are deducted from your account balance. This method is suitable for short-term use because you can release an instance at any time to save costs.
Configure the following parameters for the instance.
Parameter
Description
Deployment Method
Single-zone: The primary and secondary nodes are located in the same zone. This option is suitable for scenarios that require disaster recovery within a single data center.
Multi-zone High-availability Edition: The primary and secondary nodes are deployed in different zones to provide cross-zone disaster recovery. This deployment option is supported only by LindormTable.
NoteThis deployment option is not supported if you select Lindorm New Edition as the product type.
Multi-zone Basic Edition: The primary and secondary nodes are located in different zones, providing cross-zone disaster recovery and supporting all engines.
Region
Select the region for the instance.
NoteYou cannot change the region after the instance is created. Select the region with caution.
If your application is deployed on an ECS instance, select the same region as the ECS instance. Otherwise, the instances cannot communicate over the internal network.
Zone
Select the zone for the instance.
NoteIf your application is deployed on an ECS instance, we recommend that you select the same zone as the ECS instance to reduce network latency.
Multi-zone Combination
This parameter is available only if you set the Deployment Method parameter to Multi-zone High-availability Edition or Multi-zone Basic Edition.
Network Type
It is automatically set to VPC.
VPC
Select the VPC for the instance. If you do not have an available VPC, you can create one in the VPC console. For more information, see Create and manage a VPC.
VSwitch
Select the vSwitch for the instance. If you do not have an available vSwitch, you can create one in the VPC console. For more information, see Create a vSwitch.
NoteWhen Deployment Solution is set to Multi-zone High-availability Edition or Multi-zone Basic Edition, this parameter does not apply.
Primary Zone
Select the zones for the instance. The primary, secondary, and client node zones cannot be the same.
NoteThis parameter is displayed only when you set Deployment Method to Multi-zone High-availability Edition or Multi-zone Basic Edition.
Secondary Zone
Client Node Zone
Primary Zone VSwitch
Select the vSwitches for the instance.
NoteThis parameter is displayed only when you set Deployment Method to Multi-zone High-availability Edition or Multi-zone Basic Edition.
Secondary Zone VSwitch
Client Node VSwitch
Cluster Name
Set a name for the instance to identify it.
Storage Class
You can select Standard, Performance, Capacity, Local SSD, or Local HDD. Select a storage class as needed. For more information, see Storage classes.
Standard Cloud Storage: Suitable for scenarios that require real-time data access, such as feed stream data, chat, real-time reports, and online computing.
Performance Cloud Storage: Suitable for scenarios that require low-latency data access, such as ad bidding and delivery, user profiling, audience segmentation, real-time search, and risk management.
Storage-optimized Cloud Storage: Suitable for infrequent data access scenarios, such as monitoring logs, historical orders, audio and video archiving, data lake storage, and offline computing.
Local SSD: A local SSD is a local disk that is attached to a single physical server. Local SSDs provide multiple benefits, such as low latency, high random IOPS, high throughput, and high cost-effectiveness. Local SSDs are suitable for online business scenarios, such as online gaming, e-commerce, live streaming, and media. This storage type can meet your requirements on low latency and high I/O performance in I/O-intensive applications for block storage.
Local HDD: A local HDD is a local disk that is attached to a single physical server. Local HDDs provide multiple benefits, such as low latency, high random IOPS, high throughput, and high cost-effectiveness. Local HDDs are the preferred storage media for industries such as the Internet and finance, which have high requirements for big data computing, storage, and analysis. Local HDDs are suitable for the storage and offline computing of large amounts of data.
Select Data Engine
Includes LindormTable, LindormTSDB, Search Engine and Stream Engine. You can select the node specifications and number of nodes for the data engines as needed. For more information, see Select engine types and Select node specifications and quantity.
LindormTable: You can select the Node Specifications (in cores) and Number Of Nodes based on your requirements.
Time series engine: Select the Time-series Node Specifications and Number Of Time-series Nodes based on your requirements. The unit is core.
Search engine: You can specify the Search Node Specifications and the Number Of Search Nodes based on your requirements. The unit is core.
NoteThis feature is not available if you select Lindorm New Edition Available For Purchase or Lindorm Tunnel Service as the product type.
If you select Local SSD or Big Data for Storage Type, you cannot select the node specifications for the data engine. You can only select the Local Disk Node Specifications and the number of data engine nodes.
If you select Local SSD or Local HDD for Storage Type, you cannot select the stream engine.
Instance Configuration
Select the data engines. You can also click the
icon in the upper-right corner of the card to modify the node specifications and quantity, whether to mount cloud disks, the type of cloud disks to mount, and the capacity of the mounted cloud disks.

NoteThis parameter is not available if you set the Product Type parameter to Lindorm New Edition Available For Purchase.
Purchase Capacity Storage
Specifies whether to enable capacity cloud storage for the instance. For more information, see Capacity cloud storage.
NoteFor cloud storage series, the actual available storage capacity is the total capacity. For local disk series clusters that use a triplicate architecture, the actual available storage capacity is one-third of the total capacity.
This feature is not supported if the product type is Lindorm New Edition Available For Purchase.
Capacity Storage Capacity
Select the capacity cloud storage size for the instance.
NoteThis parameter is required only if you set the Purchase Storage-optimized Storage parameter to Yes.
