I’ve been using the reCAPTCHA for WooCommerce plugin to help reduce spam orders, and while it does its job in that regard, I’ve run into a recurring issue. Several of my clients have reported that during checkout, the captcha robot icon just keeps spinning and never completes. As a result, they can’t finalise their purchase, which obviously creates frustration and leads to abandoned carts. It’s a good plugin overall, but this bug is causing real checkout problems and needs to be fixed urgently.

This plugin is not allowing orders to go through. As soon as I turn it off, I get hit with fraud orders (and real orders). As soon as I turn it back on, I get no orders.

    Hi,

The plugin does not have control over the reCAPTCHA widget itself unfortunately. Therefore, there’s not much that can be done on the plugins end to fix the widget spinning or falsely detecting users as a robot.

It may be that this is happening to users that have a VPN enabled, or that there is an issue on Google reCAPTCHA’s end temporarily.

Thanks for your reply above Elliot. 😀

Is there any way you could see that we could work out more about ‘why’. I’ve been having this issue as well on my website (https://supportingbalance.com.au/shop/ ) – I know some of the return customers who have flagged it with me are fairly unlikely to be having a VPN enabled (age/tech skills wise I doubt it is on their radar)… and so if it’s a Google reCAPTCHA issue, can you think of any way we can flag it with them or otherwise get this working?

Is there anyone else who can provide a reCAPTCHA where it may consistently work?

I’m fairly sure I’ve lost $100’s if not $1000’s worth of orders in the last month due to this, but I can’t deal with 100’s of bot attacks either, so I feel completely stuck.

    Thanks for your suggestions 😀
