Import a website

Last reviewed on December 4, 2025

You can move your site to WordPress.com from almost any platform. This guide covers import options for sites built with WordPress and other platforms. If you know what kind of site you are importing, select the option from the table of contents in this guide.

Import from WordPress.org

A WordPress.org site (also called self-hosted WordPress) is a WordPress site you host yourself (including sites developed locally) or with a third-party hosting provider like Bluehost, SiteGround, or GoDaddy.

Thinking about migrating your WordPress site to WordPress.com?

Our expert team can do the moving for you, while your live site remains unaffected – at no cost and with 50% off your first year on our Business plan.

The migration process typically takes 2-3 business days. Once it’s complete, we’ll guide you through connecting your domain and getting your new site up and running. To get started, just drop in your site details and pick the “Do it for me” option during the migration setup below. We’ll take it from there!

Or, use one of the following methods to import your site to WordPress.com:

  • Self-service migration: Best for most users who want a hands-off experience. Imports content, media, plugins, and themes.
  • All-in-One WP Migration plugin: Best for users familiar with plugins who want more control. Imports content, media, plugins, and themes.

The above options require the purchase of a WordPress.com Business plan or higher so that plugins can be imported.

Free sites and sites on any paid plan can use the content-only import option to import pages, posts, and media.

Import from another WordPress.com site

If you already have a site on WordPress.com, choose the option that fits your needs:
