On December 10th, the aroma manufacturing center of Lixiang Tea Company was bustling with activity as workers packed green tea destined for Malaysia.
"In the first 11 months, our company achieved tea export sales of $22.19 million and domestic sales of nearly 40 million yuan," shared Ding Shujian, production manager of Lixiang Tea Company, with visible excitement. The tea export situation has been consistently positive this year, with stable growth in export volume and significant increase in foreign trade proportion.
"On October 16th, we signed a $60 million export order to Uzbekistan. From now until next spring's tea season, we'll be shipping about 300 tons," Ding introduced. Lixiang Tea Company is a national agricultural industrialization key leading enterprise integrating tea seedling breeding, planting, processing, sales and export trade, with annual production capacity of 1,200 tons and tea garden base area over 30,000 mu.

Liu Yi, deputy director of Meitan County Tea Industry Development Center, explained: "The Belt and Road Initiative presents new opportunities for Guizhou tea with its long export history." Lixiang Tea has integrated tea resources from multiple cities across the province to fulfill export orders, successfully opening the Uzbekistan market, marking Meitan's solid step toward becoming a provincial tea export hub.
In recent years, Meitan County has focused on tea as its characteristic industry to drive high-quality development. The county now has 600,000 mu of tea gardens, 781 tea production, processing and marketing enterprises, including 5 national-level leading enterprises, 28 provincial-level and 29 municipal-level ones, with annual processing capacity exceeding 80,000 tons. Currently 52 enterprises have complete export qualifications.
From 2019 to 2021, Meitan's tea export enterprises grew from 1 to 10, with export value increasing from $4.35 million to $43.63 million. From January to November this year, 14 tea export enterprises achieved direct export value of $47.5859 million, up 19% year-on-year.
Currently, Meitan's tea exports mainly include black tea (60%), CTC broken black tea, and Maofeng tea (40%). The county has successfully registered 259,000 mu of export raw material planting fields involving 48 enterprises.
"Next, guided by the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, Meitan will strive to realize the goal of 'buying from the whole province and selling to the world', making every effort to build Meitan into Guizhou's tea export hub," Liu Yi concluded.
