The current state of the authentication manager included in installs (GCM) is questionable.

The project is seems to have no active maintainers:

• issues and PRs are riddled with spam
• pending (trivial and/or usability-impeding) bugfixes do not get applied
• even previous maintainers seem also to be in the dark regarding its current status
