近年来，港澳地区大型基建项目持续推进，而港澳地区较为缺乏水泥、河沙等建筑基础材料，主要由内地供给保障。莲花山口岸位置优越，地处伶仃洋出海口，水路直通港澳，配套的高速交通网发达，是珠三角供港建筑材料的主要集散地。
In recent years, large-scale infrastructure projects in Hong Kong and Macau have continued to advance. As these regions lack basic construction materials like cement and river sand, mainland China serves as their primary supplier. The Lianhuashan Port, strategically located at the mouth of the Lingdingyang waterway with direct access to Hong Kong and Macau, has become the main distribution hub for construction materials in the Pearl River Delta region.
据统计，2023年番禺海关共监管出口港澳地区水泥、砂石、钢管等材料约70万吨。其中砂石出口业务表现尤为突出，425航次共运输158.94万吨砂石，主要用于香港国际机场第三跑道系统工程建设。
Statistics show that in 2023, Panyu Customs supervised the export of approximately 700,000 tons of materials including cement, sand, and steel pipes to Hong Kong and Macau. The sand export business was particularly notable, with 425 shipments transporting a total of 1.5894 million tons of sand, primarily for the construction of Hong Kong International Airport's third runway system.

佛山城镒贸易有限公司负责人表示："在海关政策支持下，每条船每月可增加2-3航次，相较周边口岸每航次可节约5小时航程和5000元成本。"
The manager of Foshan Chengyi Trading Company stated: "With customs policy support, each vessel can now make 2-3 additional trips per month, saving 5 hours of sailing time and 5,000 yuan in costs per trip compared to neighboring ports."
