Stone (pseudonym), a veteran cat breeder in Shanghai, revealed: "Prices for the same breed have dropped 60% compared to 2019. A high-quality Ragdoll now sells for just 3,500 yuan, down from 15,000 yuan in 2019."
消费降级明显 | Noticeable Consumption Downgrade
数据显示,2023年单只宠物犬年均消费2875元(下降0.2%),宠物猫1870元(下降0.75%)。与此同时,宠物猫数量增长6.8%至6980万只,犬增长1.1%至5175万只。
Data shows annual spending per dog dropped 0.2% to 2,875 yuan in 2023, while cat spending fell 0.75% to 1,870 yuan. Meanwhile, the cat population grew 6.8% to 69.8 million, and dogs increased 1.1% to 51.75 million.

上海宠物医院公猫绝育价格低至98元(约1.3折),低于成本价。品牌代理商林森表示:"一些品牌方甚至在自己的旗舰店低价抛货,导致渠道价格体系崩溃。"
Neutering services for male cats in Shanghai have dropped to 98 yuan (about 1.3% off), below cost. Brand agent Lin Sen said: "Some brands are dumping inventory at their flagship stores, collapsing the channel pricing system."
