As reported by China News Network on June 27 - The 2024 Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum was grandly held in Ningbo, Zhejiang, bringing together representatives from global port authorities, operators and shipping research institutions. During the event, the Transport Planning and Research Institute under the Ministry of Transport released the highly anticipated "China Port Operation Analysis Report (2024)".

Port operations serve as a "barometer" for macroeconomic performance, providing crucial references for national economic monitoring and policymaking. The Water Transport Research Institute of the Transport Planning and Research Institute has established a specialized team to conduct long-term systematic tracking of port operations nationwide.

- 宁波舟山港年吞吐量13.2亿吨，成为全国唯一超10亿吨港口
- Ningbo-Zhoushan Port achieved 1.32 billion tons annual throughput, the only Chinese port exceeding 1 billion tons
- 全国内河港口吞吐量同比增长14.1%，达38亿吨

报告显示，集装箱、煤炭、金属矿石、矿建材料和石油及制品构成沿海港口五大主力货类，占总吞吐量84%。值得注意的是，矿建材料已连续五年超越石油及制品成为第四大货类。
The report indicates that containers, coal, metal ores, mineral construction materials, and petroleum products constitute the five major cargo categories at coastal ports, accounting for 84% of total throughput. Notably, mineral construction materials have surpassed petroleum products for five consecutive years to become the fourth largest cargo category.
2024年展望：尽管地缘政治因素持续影响，预计全国沿海港口总吞吐量将达136亿吨，外贸货物吞吐量约51亿吨，同比增速分别为3.0%和3.2%。
2024 Outlook: Despite ongoing geopolitical impacts, China's total coastal port throughput is projected to reach 13.6 billion tons, with foreign trade cargo throughput at approximately 5.1 billion tons, representing year-on-year growth of 3.0% and 3.2% respectively.
