According to Turkey's Daily Sabah, WhatsApp's new data policy has sparked widespread controversy. On January 10, the hashtag #DeleteWhatsApp became the top trending topic on Twitter in Turkey. The Turkish government also issued guidelines encouraging users to switch to locally developed alternatives.
据报道，土耳其政府鼓励民众使用本地应用软件的原因是：WhatsApp最近宣布更新有关用户个人信息的政策，即用户必须同意让脸书及其子公司收集WhatsApp用户数据，包括用户的电话号码、用户联系人的电话号码、位置信息等。
The Turkish government's recommendation comes after WhatsApp announced an update to its privacy policy, requiring users to consent to Facebook and its subsidiaries collecting WhatsApp user data—including phone numbers, contact lists, and location information.
该公司还在一则弹出通知中警告用户，“需要接受这些更新（的政策）才能继续使用WhatsApp”，要么就删除账户。如果用户不能接受这些政策，将从2月8日起终止对该软件的访问。
WhatsApp further warned users via pop-up notifications that they must "accept these updates to continue using WhatsApp" or delete their accounts. Those who don't comply will lose access to the app starting February 8.
10日，#卸载Whatsapp#的标签在土耳其推特热门话题中位居榜首。土耳其总统府数字转型办公室主任阿里•塔哈•科鼓励用户选择由土耳其工程师开发的两款本土应用软件BİP和DEDI。
On January 10, #DeleteWhatsApp topped Twitter trends in Turkey. Ali Taha Koç, head of Turkey's Presidential Digital Transformation Office, urged users to switch to locally developed apps BİP and DEDI.
土耳其总统府发布的指导意见特别提出，所有公务员被鼓励使用本地应用软件。 Bip的运营商8日在一份声明中说，仅1月7日一天，就有10万人下载该应用。
The presidential directive specifically encouraged all civil servants to use domestic apps. BİP's operator reported 100,000 downloads on January 7 alone following the announcement.
