GitHub Learn & Pearson VUE FAQ
What is GitHub Learn?
GitHub Learn is the new learning portal launching July 1. GitHub Learn will be a focal point for all things certifications, training, & enablement.
How does this affect the GitHub certification program?
GitHub is transitioning its certification exams to a new testing platform. All exams must be scheduled and completed through PSI via the original registration site by June 30, 2025. Starting July 1, 2025, GitHub Certification exams will be delivered via Pearson VUE, our new official exam partner. As a result, no exam appointments are available on PSI beyond June 30, 2025. Please plan accordingly to complete any pending exams before the transition date. Starting July 1, candidates will be directed from GitHub Learn to Microsoft Learn and will need to create a learner profile to schedule and take an exam.
Does this mean Microsoft is taking over GitHub certifications?
GitHub Learn and Microsoft Learn are working together in a strategic partnership designed to enhance the learning experience for everyone. By integrating with Microsoft Learn, we’re able to extend the reach and impact of GitHub learning content through Microsoft’s global scale and robust platform. This makes it easier for learners who are already using Microsoft Learn to discover and engage with GitHub topics. At the same time, GitHub Learn remains fully available on GitHub for those who prefer to learn within the GitHub ecosystem. This is not a replacement, but an expansion: we’re meeting learners where they are, whether that’s in GitHub or Microsoft Learn, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality experience across both platforms.
How can I connect my GitHub Learn certification history to my Microsoft Learn profile?
We are working on a solution where a candidate will be able to push their GitHub earned certifications to their Microsoft Learn profile. Until this is complete, any certifications earned prior to July 1 will still appear in the GitHub profile. Once a profile is created in Microsoft Learn, a candidate will be able to track their credentials and completion and leverage the tools that already exist. Future state will allow earned certifications to appear in both Microsoft Learn and GitHub Learn.
Can a voucher I have now be used after July 1?
No, current vouchers are only valid on PSI and will expire June 30. All vouchers starting July 1 will need to be issued via Pearson VUE.
Are there practice assessments?
Practice exams for the GitHub Certification Program are coming soon! In the meantime, GitHub offers a range of self-paced learning resources on Microsoft Learn. These curated materials are designed to help individuals improve their technical skills and problem-solving abilities. The browser-based training can be completed at your own convenience.
