AliExpress at 10: China's Cross-Border E-commerce Global Journey
Ten years ago, a global financial crisis gave birth to AliExpress; a decade later, the COVID-19 pandemic has positioned China's largest cross-border retail e-commerce platform at a new crossroads.
AliExpress has become a vital platform for Chinese SMEs to go global through its direct merchant-to-consumer cross-border retail model, significantly lowering the entry barrier to international markets.

As Wang Mingqiang, General Manager of Alibaba's AliExpress, stated: "We noted that Huang Qifan, Vice Chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges, proposed in June this year that cross-border e-commerce will account for one-third of global trade in ten years. The cross-border B2C model effectively meets user needs by directly connecting cost-effective, high-quality products with overseas consumers, eliminating many intermediate links."
