This news brought a glimmer of warmth to foreign trade merchant Chen Haijin during the slow season in June. "Such small fluctuations give us hope and confidence," he said.

陈海金是广西梧州的一名人造宝石首饰出口商,他告诉第一财经,自己并未直接感受到订单的明显起色,但在外需收缩、尤其是今年4月订单同比骤降一半的超级淡季中,他比任何时候都更需要这样的好消息。

Chen Haijin, an artificial gemstone jewelry exporter from Wuzhou, Guangxi, told First Financial that while he hasn't seen significant improvement in orders, such good news is especially welcome during this super off-season when external demand has contracted sharply, with April orders dropping by half year-on-year.

在外部需求收缩时期,今年宝石相关进出口整体却呈现出两位数的逆势增长。

Despite shrinking external demand, gemstone-related imports and exports have shown double-digit growth against the trend this year.

据海关总署发布的《进出口商品类章总值表》显示,以人民币计,"天然或养殖珍珠、宝石或半宝石、贵金属、包贵金属及其制品;仿首饰;硬币"品类今年前4个月出口额为659.5亿元,同比增长36%;进口额为2808.6亿元,同比增长90.6%。以美元计,出口同比增长26.3%,进口增长77.4%。

According to the "Total Value Table of Import and Export Commodity Categories" released by the General Administration of Customs, in RMB terms, exports of "natural or cultured pearls, gemstones or semi-precious stones, precious metals, clad precious metals and their products; imitation jewelry; coins" reached 65.95 billion yuan in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 36%; imports were 280.86 billion yuan, up 90.6% year-on-year. In USD terms, exports increased by 26.3%, while imports grew by 77.4%.

Facing challenges from economic downturn and industrial relocation, foreign trade merchants are focusing more on internal improvements to enhance product and team competitiveness.

随着外贸订单日益碎片化,小单快返成为一大趋势。"交货越快,客户返单越快。"陈海金表示,以前客户半年或一年采购一次,现在往往一个月下单一次,不仅下单频率增加,而且设计经常需要更改。

As foreign trade orders become increasingly fragmented, small orders with quick returns have become a major trend. "The faster the delivery, the faster customers reorder," Chen Haijin said. Whereas customers used to purchase every six months or a year, they now often place orders monthly, with both increased frequency and frequent design changes.

陈海金认为,即使近期美国市场下滑、东南亚市场上升,产品升级仍是努力的方向,但无论是高端还是低端产品,都仍有可观的需求量。"任何市场都有衰退和上升的时候,如果看不准,就不要轻易放弃,说不定哪天又会爆发。"

Chen believes that despite recent declines in the US market and growth in Southeast Asia, product upgrades remain the focus. Both high-end and low-end products still see considerable demand. "Every market has its ups and downs. If you're unsure, don't give up easily - it might boom again unexpectedly."
