Puppet Enterprise Lifecycle Policy
This Puppet Enterprise® (PE and PE Advanced) lifecycle policy helps you make informed decisions about when to update your PE version. Support and maintenance provided under this policy are subject to Puppet’s Support Terms, which may be updated by Puppet from time to time.
Lifecycle Model Update
Puppet is transitioning its Puppet Enterprise® software support offerings from the legacy Long-Term Support (LTS) model to a simplified Latest / Latest - 1 model.
Starting with the release of Puppet Enterprise 2026.0, projected August 2026, all new Puppet Enterprise releases will follow this new model, designed to accelerate product innovation, improve security, and simplify lifecycle management.
Puppet Enterprise Release Tracks
Latest / Latest - 1 (Effective August 2026)
Beginning with the release of PE 2026.0, Puppet Enterprise will adopt a new support model based on two release series:
- Latest: The most recent major version of Puppet Enterprise, which receives full support for 12 months from its release date, or until a newer major version is released, whichever is later. Full support includes new features and enhancements, security updates, and bug fixes.
- Latest - 1: The previous major version, which transitions to limited support once a new Latest version is released. Limited support continues for 12 months beginning on the Latest version release date. Limited support includes minor changes, security updates, and defect fixes only.
This model replaces the legacy LTS model and introduces a streamlined lifecycle.
Long-Term Support (LTS) – Legacy Model
Under the legacy support model, Puppet Enterprise LTS releases received up to two years of support, which included feature improvements, security fixes, and bug fixes. A six-month overlap support period was provided after the release of a new LTS version to allow the customer to have enough time for migration. time for migration.
The final LTS release is PE 2023.8.z, which will continue to receive maintenance updates until August 27, 2026, followed by a six-month overlap support period that ends on February 27, 2027. After this date, the LTS model will be retired.
