如今，卢旺达共有13家大型茶叶工厂，预计在2018年左右将再建5家茶叶厂，届时出口收入将增长到1.47亿美元。Rwanda currently has 13 large tea factories, with plans to build 5 more by 2018, which is expected to increase export revenue to $147 million.

全国农业出口委员会负责人Jean Damascene Gasarabwe称，在2004年，卢旺达政府将茶叶厂私有化，以促进茶叶生产量。Jean Damascene Gasarabwe of the National Agricultural Export Board stated that in 2004, the Rwandan government privatized tea factories to boost production.
包括Pfunda、Shagasha等在内的11家茶叶厂在2012年左右都完成了私有化改制。私有化改制有助于茶叶工厂的恢复生气，同时也提高了茶叶产量。Eleven factories including Pfunda and Shagasha completed privatization around 2012. This reform revitalized the factories and increased tea production.

业内人士称，如今成品茶叶的价格下降了，因而也影响到了生茶叶的价格，茶农们的收入也会下降。Industry experts note that falling prices for processed tea have impacted raw tea prices and farmers' incomes.
此外，卢旺达的茶叶生产效率依然低下，这将影响到茶农的毛收入以及茶叶利益相关方的利润，此外气候变化也将影响到茶叶生产情况。Additionally, low production efficiency affects farmers' gross income and stakeholders' profits, while climate change poses another threat to production.
