April 7, Qilu Network·Lightning News On April 6, after passing quarantine inspection by Heze Customs, 1,600 peony cut flowers embarked on their journey to Europe, marking the first overseas export of Heze peony cut flowers this year.
In the peony greenhouses of Huanggang Town, Mudan District, Heze City, buds are ready to bloom. Farmers carefully cut peony flowers to uniform lengths using bamboo poles and scissors. Li Hongqiang, manager of Heze Xuanye Horticulture Co., Ltd., said: "After harvesting, the flowers are transported to processing rooms where they undergo washing, sorting, pretreatment and packaging before shipment to ports. It takes 2-3 days to reach customers."
This batch of 1,600 peony cut flowers serves as the first sample shipment to Russia. As China's traditional famous flower known as the "May Flower Goddess", Heze currently cultivates 30,000 mu (about 2,000 hectares) of peonies, with over 10,000 mu dedicated to cut flowers.
Since fresh cut flowers are live plant products, their production and export face strict quarantine requirements from international markets. To ensure smooth customs clearance and maintain Heze peonies' position in global markets, Heze Customs officers conducted on-site pest inspections at flower farms immediately.
Song Jun, Chief of Inspection Section II at Heze Customs, stated: "By collecting and translating international quarantine standards for cut flowers, we've established green channels to expedite inspection and clearance, ensuring successful export of Heze peony cut flowers."
