The Jamf Trust app allows users to enroll their devices with capabilities managed in the Jamf Security Cloud portal.
Primary distribution methods include:
- (Recommended) Distribution via UEM or MDM solution
- Use your organization's UEM or MDM solution to distribute the Jamf Trust app and its required configuration settings from an activation profile. This method involves downloading your activation profile's configuration data in a specific format (such as managed app configuration for iOS or a configuration profile for macOS) and then uploading it to your UEM or MDM solution for distribution alongside the Jamf Trust app.

Jamf recommends this method for distributing to a large amount of devices and for optimizing the enrollment experience for users. This process varies based on your UEM or MDM solution and the operating system you are distributing the Jamf Trust app to.
- Shareable link
- From an activation profile in the Jamf Security Cloud portal, copy the shareable link and send it to users in your organization.
When accessed by users on their device, users are prompted to install the Jamf Trust app and enable the security capabilities associated with the link's activation profile in the Jamf Security Cloud.
This method is recommended for testing purposes, quickly distributing the app to a small amount of devices, or distributing to devices that are not managed by a UEM or MDM solution.
Keep the following in mind:
If an activation profile includes an IdP for authentication, users must sign in to the Jamf Trust app using their IdP credentials. The capabilities associated with the activation profile are enabled after sign-in.
On Apple devices, users may be prompted to authenticate with a valid Apple Account to install applications from the App Store.
The installation experience may vary based on the device ownership and its management status.
