Dramatic Changes in Global Market Share

During the same period, the export shares of major developed economies continued to decline:

- Japan: from 8.5% to 6.8%
- Germany: from 12.1% to 8.5%
- U.S.: from 7.4% to 3.1%
Industrial Upgrading: From Labor-Intensive to High-Value-Added
China's export structure has undergone a revolutionary transformation:
- The proportion of labor-intensive products dropped from over 70% in 2010 to 20% in 2023
- Further declined to 17% in the first five months of 2024
- Electromechanical products now account for 59%
In knowledge- and technology-intensive (KTI) industries, China has established global leadership:
- Accounted for 34% of global KTI manufacturing value added in 2022, ranking first
- The U.S. ranked second with 20.4%
- A qualitative leap from the fourth place globally in 2004
Global Dominance in Electronics Exports
