On September 4th, Shanghai Quality and Technical Supervision Bureau conducted a special inspection at Shanghai Lighting City. During the inspection, law enforcement officers discovered several high-end lamps priced over 10,000 yuan using non-compliant European standard plugs in a store.
出口转内销产品存在严重适配问题
The store owner claimed these were "export-to-domestic" products. While European round-pin plugs can physically fit into Chinese flat-pin sockets, they violate China's mandatory GB/T1002-2008 standard for plugs and sockets.

Liu Erli, senior engineer at National Lighting Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, explained three major risks:
1. Voltage mismatch - Some US/UK standard plugs require converters
2. Poor contact - Converters leave plugs partially suspended
3. Deformation risk - Long-term stress may damage plugs
执法部门采取严厉措施
Authorities:
- Seized over 100 sets of non-compliant lamps
- Issued removal orders for suspected products
- Will trace products to manufacturers for source control

Zhou Yibin, team leader of the enforcement unit, warned about:
- Electric shock risks from non-compliant plugs
- Overheating that may cause fires
- Phasing out of old-standard converters by October 2018
