1987年8月8日,杭州武林广场的一场大火烧毁了5000多双劣质温州鞋,这场"质量之耻"成为温州鞋业发展的分水岭。当时郑秀康的"鸿盛皮鞋"虽未被列入黑名单,但温州鞋的整体声誉已跌至谷底。
On August 8, 1987, a fire at Hangzhou's Wulin Plaza destroyed over 5,000 pairs of low-quality Wenzhou shoes. This "shame of quality" became a watershed moment. Although Zheng's "Hongsheng Shoes" weren't blacklisted, Wenzhou shoes' reputation had hit rock bottom.

1989年,郑秀康远赴意大利学习先进制鞋技术18个月,回国后创立"康奈"品牌(寓意"健康发展,其奈我何"),并建成温州第一条现代化制鞋流水线。到1998年,康奈年产量达300万双,销售额3.5亿元。
In 1989, Zheng spent 18 months in Italy learning advanced shoemaking techniques. Upon returning, he created the "Kangnai" brand (meaning "Healthy development, what can stop me?") and built Wenzhou's first modern assembly line. By 1998, annual production reached 3 million pairs with 350 million yuan in sales.
