In 2023, Pingyang hosted the East China International Pet Products Exhibition, launched the first Pet Love Carnival, and released the city IP "Pet Love Pingyang", inviting the global pet economy market. Data shows that Pingyang's pet chew toy exports account for 60% of China's total exports, and leash production occupies over 35% of the domestic market.

20世纪80年代，平阳县水头镇作为"中国皮都"闻名全国。敏锐的平阳商人从皮革边角料中发现商机，创新研发宠物"狗咬胶"，开启了产业转型序幕。佩蒂股份董事长陈振标表示："从月出口一个货柜到近百个，我们成为行业首家上市公司。"
In the 1980s, Shuitou Town in Pingyang was nationally renowned as the "Leather Capital of China". Astute Pingyang entrepreneurs discovered business opportunities in leather scraps, innovatively developing pet "chew toys", marking the beginning of industrial transformation. Chen Zhenbiao, chairman of Pet's Love, stated: "From exporting one container per month to nearly a hundred, we became the industry's first listed company."
如今，平阳已形成完整的宠物产业集群，拥有两家上市公司（佩蒂股份和源飞宠物）、21家高新技术企业，产品远销30多个国家和地区。2022年行业总产值达47亿元，成为县域经济新引擎。
Today, Pingyang has formed a complete pet industry cluster, with two listed companies (Pet's Love and Yuanfei Pet), 21 high-tech enterprises, and products exported to over 30 countries and regions.
