The described project was built by the author with a motivation for providing a working knowledge for the Undergraduate (UG) students about the self inductance and the inner working knowledge of an analog relay. Combined information of self inductance and the engineering of the relay, a simple electrical wiring was designed using only a 12 V relay, 9V DC battery and a neon bulb from a tester. The design when assembled, the 9V supply from the battery was stepped up to produce enough back EMF from the coil of the relay that a small neon bulb glowed continuously (Though it was intermittent chattering of the relay, the glow when observed with eyes, seemed continuous). The project was published as a UG article in science journal. For getting to know all the details of the project kindly refer to the link of the published article.
