Abhi: Any chance that only certain issue types could be auto-assigned? I'm getting both feature and bug issues, and I'm not always the best person for feature stuff
↳ Jeremy: The auto-assignment is not issue ownership. The ask is really just to vet the issue for its compliance with our intake policy; if a FR is totally obvious as a non-fit, you might kick it out, but if in doubt, leave it open with status: under review (for FRs).
↳ Dan: Might we consider changing under review to voting? Jeremy: We definitely should reconsider this label, but voting might not be it. Dan: Could we have a bot provide some helpful tips to issue reporters post-triage?
↳ Jeff: I'm looking at inserting myself post-triage by providing a human reply on every issue that makes it through triage. Feels nicer than having a herd of bots doing all the replying. The question is whether I'll be able to scale it.
↳ Abhi: Have we looked at the langchain bot? Does natural language processing on historical issues to make helpful suggestions during issue triage period. Jeremy: Let's not introduce more bots right now if we can help it.
[Jeremy] v4.0 beta release - outstanding items (blocking items are marked with ❗️)
↳ Dan is mostly done with this one. Jeremy wants to spend a little more time to see if we can find a more efficient / effective way to do the form initialization; name matching gets us most of the way there but there are corner cases where the column name doesn't match the filter name.
↳ Cosmetic improvement to the browseable REST API. Will not hold the beta for this if it's running late.
❗️ #15154 (uWSGI support) - In final review (3/28)
↳ uWSGI will be a supported alternative. gunicorn will continue to be the supported default, at least for now. Merge today or tomorrow.
❗️ #15464 (permission M2Ms) - To be completed today (3/28)
↳ Flipping the many:many permission assignments for users / groups and objects. Since we're introducing custom user and group models, now is a convenient time to make this change. It's not really impacting to end-users except via the REST API. It's pretty much done, but there's something about the user model (though not the group model) that's complicating the implementation a bit. Jeremy hopes to figure this out today.
The starter project currently occupying the netbox package name on PyPI appears abandoned, and I'm navigating the PEP 541 steps so that we can start publishing NetBox to PyPI.
